show 187: 11pm to 12am

Well, folks, the sad news is that, with regret, I am retiring Clocks & Clouds at the end of August. I hope one day to restart it when circumstances allow, so it's auf wiedersehen and not good bye. The last show will be on September 2nd. Tonight I decided to play some of the techno tracks that really made an impact on me and got me hooked on electronic music in the first place. Some of them I heard for the first time on CJSR. Many thanks to my listeners. Keep it real.

show 186: 11pm to 12am

On tonight's show, my final Mutek interview, this one with Jean-Patrice Rémillard, better known as Pheek. An ambitious and lively man, he also runs two labels: Archipel and Kalimari Musique.

His highly personal style of minimal techno was caught on tape live at Mutek, and you can find it here.

For a directory of net-labels, Jean-Patrice suggests that you check out phlow.org.

You can listen to all my Mutek interviews, as well as a panel discussion not aired on the show, on the CJSR News Department website, where they are gathered under a show called 'Mutek.'

While at Mutek 2007, I recorded interviews with Edmonton artists Clinker, Mark Templeton and Aaron Munson, as well as Leaf label artist Colleen, German prepared-piano pianist Hauschka, French duo Gangpol und Mit, Montreal based label owner and producer Pheek, Microcosm Music label owner Ezekiel Honig, and Swiss producer Kalabrese.

Special guests tonight were Dane (For a Fee), Bryan (Pickls?/For a Fee), Ryan (Sidetrack/Inkwell) and Cam (Cinch/Inkwell) from Danksoul Recordings. Based in Vancouver, Victoria, and Edmonton, the guys produce smooth minimal techno, but refuse to restrict themselves to only one genre and have applied their unique sound to hip hop, downtempo et cetera.
